Mr. Truong Huynh is the General Superintendent of Development Services, a manager in the Building and Safety Bureau within the City of Long Beach’s Department of Development Services. He is a licensed professional engineer and a certified building official with over 25 years of experience in the building safety profession. Mr. Huynh has been with the City of Long Beach since 2005 and is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the programs and activities of the Engineering/Plan Review Services Division. This includes overseeing the City’s local code adoption process as well as representing the City during the national code development cycle. Previously, he worked for 8 years as a supervisor in the Engineering Bureau within the City of Los Angeles’ Department of Building and Safety.
Mr. Huynh regularly contributes and volunteers his time to serve in many capacities with various professional committees, associations and organizations to enhance and improve the building safety profession, assist the construction and design communities, and promote public safety through the safe design of buildings and structures. He is currently serving as the Chairperson for the ICC Los Angeles Basin Chapter (“ICC-LABC”) Administration and Code Committee; an active member of the SEAOSC Codes and Standards Committee, the California League of Building Official (CALBO) State Code Committee; and an active participant with the International Code Council (ICC) Building Code Action Committee. Previously, Mr. Huynh served as a SEAOSC Board of Director and ICC-LABC President; Co-Chaired the SEAOSC Steel Committee and Chaired the ICC-LABC Structural Code Committee; served on the CALBO Structural Safety Committee; and volunteered as a Structural Specialist Member for the Long Beach Fire Department Urban Search and Rescue Team.
Mr. Huynh graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Building Science.
