Welcome to the Code Coordination Webpage!!

The ICC Los Angeles Basin Chapter Administration Committee (“Committee”) is taking the lead to facilitate and strengthen code coordination efforts among the various participating chapters, organizations and jurisdictions in California (“CA”). It is the Committee’s goal that increasing collaboration among the various participating CA chapters, organizations and jurisdictions regarding code change proposals will help ensure that the voices of all CA Governmental Member Voting Representatives are uniform and consistent. As such, the Committee believes that these efforts will help to enable CA to have a significant impact on the code development process at the national level. The Committee looks forward to working with participating members and interested parties in supporting these efforts and helping to make CA once again become a leader in the code development process.

In furtherance of that goal, the Committee has been working closely with various CA governmental members that represent participating CA chapters, organizations and jurisdictions engaged in the 2016 Group B Code Development Cycle for the 2018 Edition of the I-Codes to evaluate and recommend positions on select code change proposals during the  Committee Action Hearings in Louisville, KY and Public Comment Hearings in Kansas City, KA. Those efforts are reflected in an online shared excel file document, including other documents, that consolidates and summarizes the recommended positions by the various participating CA chapters, organizations and jurisdictions to ensure ease of comparison and review for other CA governmental members. Serving as the clearing house, the Committee hopes that the documents produced through these efforts will help to serve as a guide for all CA Governmental Member Voting Representatives when evaluating what code change proposals to support or oppose.

Sincerely,

Truong Huynh, P.E., C.B.O.
ICC-LABC Administration Committee
Chairperson

ACTION PLAN

The following steps are being taken by the Committee to ensure a successful and effective code coordination effort:

• The Committee is reaching out to all known chapters, organizations and jurisdictions in CA who are interested in furthering the goal of improving statewide code coordination efforts and impact the code development process at the national level.

• Primary Point of Contact, representatives for the Committee, will work with and through the leaders or representatives of participating chapters, organizations and jurisdictions in CA to both inform and engage all CA Governmental Member Voting Representatives, to the extent possible, to uniformly and consistently vote on code change proposals during the 2016 Group B Code Development Cycle for the 2018 Edition of the I-Codes.

• The Committee is developing a statewide consensus document with recommended actions for voting on code change proposals at the 2016 Group B Code Development Cycle for the 2018 Edition of the I-Codes. The consensus document will serve as a guide to assist all CA Governmental Member Voting Representatives by providing consensus recommendations on what code change proposals to approve or disapprove at either the code hearings or online through the cdpACCESS portal.

ONLINE EXCEL FILE FOR CA CONSENSUS RECOMMENDED ACTIONS

The following online excel file document below is made available to all participating code committees, chapters, organizations and jurisdictions in CA. Although viewable by all participating members, it is only editable by the Primary Point of Contact assigned to participating CA code committees, chapters, organizations and jurisdictions. It should be noted that this is a working online excel file document for use by participating members and managed by the Committee. It is made available solely to enable participating members to work together collaboratively and to consolidate their recommended positions on the various code change proposals at a single location, and may NOT be relied upon or utilized for any other purpose. As a working online excel file document, it may change significantly in subsequent versions as it is constantly being updated.

GET THE VOTE OUT

To ensure that you are registered as a Governmental Member Voting Representative, please visit and log onto the ICC website to verify your voting status and encourage others to do the same. To ensure that California has a large turnout, the Committee hopes that you are actively engaging other colleagues from the Building and Safety Departments, Fire Departments and Housing Departments to register and participate in the code hearings. The more Californian’s that votes, the stronger our voice will be within the ICC and at the code hearings. Let’s get involved once again and exercise our ability to vote! If you have any questions whatsoever regarding the Committee’s statewide code coordination efforts or what your role may be to support these efforts, please feel free to the Chairperson or any of the Primary Point of Contacts for the Committee. Thank you for your time and support on this worthy endeavor!!
